J. G. McConville is Professor of Old Testament at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham, England. He is the author of numerous books on the Old Testament, including Law and Theology in Deuteronomy, Judgement and Promise: An Introduction to the Book of Jeremiah, and I and II Chronicles in the Daily Study Bible series.

Great for What it is

It contains good background and some scholarly comments that help explain the text. It also provides implications and applications for modern times. A good commentary for the preacher, and also a wonderful devotional commentary. Pretty amazing book given the space constraints of this commentary series.
